Delphi Construction Breaks Ground on New Counseling and Resource Center for Independence House in Hyannis, MA
Delphi Construction recently celebrated with a groundbreaking ceremony for the new counseling and resource center for Independence House, a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving Cape Cod. The event marks the official start of construction on a 3,466 square foot single-story facility that will enhance Independence House’s capacity to deliver life-changing services to individuals and families affected by domestic and sexual violence.
Located on Bassett Lane in Hyannis, the new building will serve as a dedicated counseling and resource center featuring 10 offices and other essential support spaces. The new facility reflects Independence House’s continued commitment to providing trauma-informed, client-centered care and will allow the organization to expand its offerings to better meet the growing needs of the community.
“We are honored to partner with Independence House, Clear Path Advisors, and Catalyst Architecture and Interiors on this meaningful project,” said Corey Heaslip, Vice President of Project Development at Delphi Construction. “The work of Independence House has a profound impact on the Cape Cod community, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support their mission by constructing a space that will enable them to continue—and expand—their vital services.”
Delphi will oversee construction of the new facility, which has been thoughtfully designed by Catalyst Architecture and Interiors to meet modern accessibility and safety standards while aligning with the organization’s values and community-focused approach. Site improvements will include enhanced parking and circulation at the rear of the property, along with the construction of a new handicap-accessible ramp and entry porch at the existing administrative building. The overall site layout has been developed to create a welcoming and functional environment for both clients and staff.
The project team includes:
- Architect: Catalyst Architecture and Interiors
- Civil Engineer: Bracken Engineering
- MEP/FP Engineers: Griffith & Vary
- Structural Engineer: Consulting Structural Engineer
- Owner’s Project Manager: Clear Path Advisors
In addition to the new construction, existing buildings on the site—including the Independence House Administrative Office and a 1,000 square foot rental office structure—will remain. All construction activities will be performed in accordance with current design standards and protocols, and all areas impacted by construction will be restored to pre-construction conditions or better.
Independence House has been a cornerstone of support for survivors of domestic violence on Cape Cod for over four decades. Through advocacy, prevention, education, and outreach, the organization provides critical services to individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. Construction is now underway, and Delphi Construction will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.
