About Reading Public Library
Built in 1894, this former school building turned public library needed more space and significant improvements to enhance the services provided to the people of the Town of Reading. The renovation project involved the construction of a 2-story, 9,430 square feet addition to house several meeting rooms and a major Reading Room space to improve library services.
The existing building underwent renovations to several adjacent areas to update finishes, modernize mechanical and life safety systems, and provide site improvements and accessibility upgrades. This projects extensive scope of work was performed with exceptional care appropriate for a building listed on the prestigious National Register of Historic Places.
